SACRED SCRAPS ART SHOW

On Sunday, May 3rd, from 6–9 PM, Devils Point hosts Sacred Scraps: The Devils Relics, an art show from Sacred Scraps.

This collection blends religious imagery with the lived experience of the Portland sex worker community, creating something provocative, intimate, and unexpected.

Enjoy snacks, drinks, and music while exploring the art. Pieces will be available for purchase during the event.

Inspired by centuries of Catholic art, and as a veteran stripper of nearly ten years, I was called to infuse the two aesthetics to create something provocative and unique. My art speaks through, and for, the Portland sex worker community. My intention is to redefine our idea of worship into something that celebrates a historically marginalized and often villainized group.

I intend to shift the lens through which we view the sex worker, flipping the script on the traditional role of the worker as subservient to one of power and control. Themes of worship, devotion, and expression are consistent throughout religious imagery. I hope you enjoy viewing these models in a context different from what we typically see.

Peace be with you 🖤
